When you are dealing with hemorrhoids, one of your main goals will be to reduce the impact that you are putting on the wall of your anus, and ultimately the hemorrhoids. The lower the impact on this area, the quicker the hemorrhoids are going to heal. Now; there are plenty of different ways in which you can do this. I want to focus on just one of those methods however. This is the idea of avoiding constipation.
Constipation, as you may know, occurs when the passage of the stool out of your system is slowed down considerably. This is in part down to the fact that the stool is far too hard. By straining you will be putting a lot of stress on the hemorrhoids and this will do nothing but irritate them.
There are a number of ways in which you can reduce constipation. The best way however is to consume some more high fiber foods. You will want to be getting at least 25 grams of fiber into your diet each and every day.

1. At the top of the list we are going to stick bran, or corn as it is known in some places. This stuff is essentially just fiber. About 79% of bran is fiber. Obviously you will not be consuming raw bran (it tastes hideous on its own), but you will find that there are many products out there which are bran-based. Cereals are a good starting point here.
2. Cauliflower and Broccoli, providing it is raw, contain around 2% fiber. A single cup of either of these will give you 8% of your daily allowance. This means that you will be most of the way towards your daily fiber goals. It is worth noting that cooked foods tend to lose a bit of their nutritional value. This means you will need to eat more in order to get your daily fiber allowance.
3. Savoy Cabbage: A single cup of shredded savoy cabbage will give you 9% of your daily allowance of fiber. A single cup of cooked savoy cabbage (which is almost double the weight of the uncooked version) will result in 16% of your daily allowance being catered for.
4. Berries are incredibly high in fiber (a cup can provide 32% of your daily fiber allowance if you eat raspberries). There are plenty of other berries you can eat too. Elderberries tend to have the most fiber, blackberries and gooseberries come up just behind raspberries. Strawberries also provide a great deal of your allowance.
5. If you are looking to combat constipation and thus improve the symptoms of your hemorrhoids then you will want to eat leafy greens. You have plenty of different options here. Spinach, Ros lettuce, Romain lettuce, and beet greens should provide you with a good amount of fiber.
6. Celery is not the nicest tasting food out there. A single stalk can provide you with 2% of your daily allowance though. One of the main reasons as to why people veer towards celery is the fact that it is very low in calories (there are just 16 calories in 100g!) this makes it perfect for those who wish to boost their fiber intake but do not wish to ruin their diet.
7. Just about all types of squash will serve you well when it comes to boosting your fiber allowance. A good squash stew made with a cup of cubed squash (205g) will net you 40% of your daily fiber allowance.
8. Beans are also perfect. Kidney beans are brilliant for mixing into a curry (45% daily allowance per cup), chickpeas are great for bulking up salads (50% daily allowance per cup), as are navy beans (76% allowance per cup)
9. Making a gorgeous dinner? Well; throw some mushrooms in there too. 1 cup of cut mushrooms will net you 14% of your daily allowance.
10. Oranges are brilliant for constipation relief too. A cup of orange sections (roughly 180 grams) will give you 17% of what you need each day.
