It is important to get proper exercise every day to keep everything running smoothly and avoid serious health problems later in life, but if you have an injury or ailment like hemorrhoids, it can be really embarrassing and uncomfortable. They can be very irritating and even painful when you’re just doing normal activities, so doing your regular workout routine can seem impossible.

It is possible to stay active while having hemorrhoids, though, you’ll just need to adjust your activities and avoid the ones that are going to cause discomfort.

Exercises bad for hemorrhoids

Since hemorrhoids are caused by inflammation of blood vessels, causing increased pressure in the region, you’ll want to avoid anything that is going to involve sitting down or squeezing of the legs. Usually anything involving the bench at the gym is going to be filled with regret after you get started. Same thing for squats, the reps are going to cause constant irritation, even if it is not immediately noticeable.

If you enjoy playing sports as a form of exercise, you might want to just stick to practice sessions until your hemorrhoids are gone. It’s very difficult to play to your expected potential with hemorrhoids as they always make themselves known after you start breaking a sweat.

Don’t let hemorrhoids control your life, you should also try to get in a little exercise so that you keep your cardiovascular system healthy and your stress levels down. Look into other forms of exercise that you might prefer doing more often.

Exercises you should do instead

While getting cardio exercise from playing sports can be a bad idea, not all forms of cardio can cause flare-ups. For instance, swimming is absolutely wonderful for those suffering for hemorrhoids. It’s an amazing form of cardio, period, but the freedom and the therapeutic effects of swimming are unmatched.

It allows for every muscle to get a workout, while negating the amount of friction and vibration that comes with things like jogging and running.

Last, but not least is yoga. This is the type of no-impact exercise that everyone should know how to do. It challenges your muscles, your mind, and allows you to go at your own pace, adjusting for any positions that may cause discomfort with hemorrhoids.

With the right routine, you’ll completely forget you even had them, while getting your blood pumping and sweat beading as if you just ran a marathon.
